Pound Points
Pound Points is designed to increase attendance at Butler athletic events. At each sporting event, students will have their Dawg Pound card scanned and a set number of points will automatically be updated into a computer system. Points will vary from game to game depending on the profile of the game. Points that students acquire over the year will translate into raffle tickets for a drawing that we will have at our end of the year party. So, the more points a student earns, the better chance they have to win.
Procedure:
- Doors will open 1 hour prior to the event for students (with the exception of men's basketball which opens 1.5 hours before tip-off)
- Students must have both their Butler ID and Dawg Pound card (in order to confirm that students are not using any card but their own)
- Each Dawg Pound card is individually bar coded and corresponds to one specific student
- Upon entrance into the event, students will present their Dawg Pound card and will be scanned in via a handheld scanner
- The system will automatically bring up the student's name and will show the total number of points they have accrued
- Dawg Pound cards will not be able to be scanned in more than once at each event- The system will reject the ID if it is scanned in multiple times
- The Dawg Pound table will be open until the following times:
- Football- End of first quarter
- Soccer- 20 minute mark in first half
- Volleyball- End of second game
- Basketball- 16 minute media timeout of first half
- Baseball and Softball- End of 3rd inning
- If any student is observed simply signing in and leaving the event they will forfeit all of their points for the year and will no longer be allowed to participate- You will simply be on the honor system and it is asked that you stay through the entire event
- The number of points that will be given out at each event will be listed next to the atheletic event on the "Events" section of this website
- Dawg Pound reserves the right to simply show up to an unscheduled Pound Point athletic event and offer double or even triple points to any students in attendance, so students are encouraged to attend as many games as possible
Prizes:
The prizes will be raffled off (as mentioned above) at the end of the year party, which will be held in late April. Students must be present to win. Although the complete list of prizes is still to be finalized, many great prizes will be given away including a 52" LCD TV, video game systems, autographed memorabilia, gift cards, and many donations from our sponsors.
End of the Year Party:
In order to qualify for the end of the year party, Dawg Pound members must finish in the top 25% of the Pound Points program (estimated top 300 point receivers). The party will take place in late April in the Reilly Room. Food will be provided courtesy of our sponsors. Prizes will be raffled off at the end of the party and members must be present to receive prize.
