The Student Government Association
(SGA) encourages all first year students to become involved.
Several opportunities exist for first year students to become
active members of SGA. Read below for all the different ways YOU
can get involved and e-mail additional questions to sga@butler.edu

Student Government Association
Council on Presidential Affairs - Board Member
The Council on Presidential Affairs (CPA) is looking each
Fall semester for new freshman members to serve on one of three
committees. Descriptions of each committee's responsibilities
can be found on the application.
Each CPA member will be expected to attend our monthly all-board
meetings as well as a weekly individual committee meeting to be
scheduled with your committee coordinator. Additionally, all
members of the Council on Presidential Affairs must attend the
weekly SGA meetings on Wednesdays at 4:30 PM. For more information,

Finance Executive Board - Grants Committee (Elected through SGA
Assembly)
The Finance Executive Board is responsible for maintaining the
Student Government Association Budget. Comprised of three important
committees, the Finance Executive Board strives for fiscal
responsibility and accountability. For more information please

Freshman Caucus
The Freshman Caucus works with the Office of Student Affairs in
addressing questions and concerns of the class. If you are
interested in becoming a leader within the freshman class, contact
the SGA President Al Carroll at acarroll@butler.edu.
Operations Board - Assembly Set Up Team
Operations Board is always excited to add first year students
to our assembly set up team. If you are interested
in joining this team you can email Kelsa Reynolds, Vice
President of Operations, at klreynol@butler.edu.
Organization Representative
Each Butler University student organization is allotted one SGA
Representative. Organization Representatives are chosen through
individual organizations.
Program Board - Special Events Committee Member
The Special Events Committee continually entertains the entire
campus with a multitude of events. They plan a triple threat of
intense programming: Homecoming, Snowcoming, and Exam Jam.

Program Board - Concerts Committee Member
The Concerts Committee plans the all-campus concerts that happen
throughout the year. Previous acts have included: The Fray, OKGO,
Ben Folds, and Common. Interested new students should contact

Program Board - Dance Marathon Committee Member
The Dance Marathon Committee plans Butler University Dance
Marathon (BUDM), a 12-hour all-campus philanthropic event in
support of Riley Hospital for Children. Participants must stand for
the entire time and participate in numerous games and activities,
as well as interact with Riley kids, families, and doctors.

Program Board - Spring Sports Spectacular Committee Member
The Spring Sports Spectacular Committee plans SSS Oberfest in
the fall, and the 12-hour all-campus philanthropic event Spring
Sports Spectacular in the spring, which both support the Special
Olympics of Indiana. In both events the entire campus competes in
sporting events ranging from basketball and dodge ball, to Twister
and euchre, and everything in between. Interested new

Public Relations Board - Blue Crew Member
Blue Crew is a team of high-spirited Butler students who want to
raise Butler pride among the community through exciting giveaways
and events. By joining this team, you will be included on the Blue
Crew listserv and will receive information on upcoming appearance
opportunities. Anyone interested in joining the Blue
Crew should e-mail the Blue Crew Coordinator, Lauren Pedigo,
at lpedigo@butler.edu.
Residential Hall Representative
Each Residential Hall Unit elects students as SGA
Representatives. Residential Assistants are responsible for
overseeing these elections.

Not interested in student
government? Don't worry! There are plenty of other ways to
