1098-T Forms for 2011 Tax Reporting 

Attention Degree Seeking Students:

The Office of Student Accounts has published the 1098-T forms for 2011 electronically.  The form is generated for DEGREE SEEKING students only. 

Students and Authorized Users can access the form online:

Student access: Log on to your my.butler.edu account.  Click on Self Service, then Student Center, and scroll down to the Finances heading and click on View Bills.  The option to view your 2011 1098-T form will be displayed.

Authorized User access:  go to https://commerce.cashnet.com/butler and provide your User ID and password.

Receive 1098-T Form Electronically - It's Easy!

Just log on to your my.butler.edu account.  Click on Self Service, then Student Center, and scroll down to the Finances heading and click on View Bills.  In the 1098-T section, click the link that reads, Click here to give consent for your 1098-T Form to be sent electronically only.  (If you choose NOT to receive your document electronically, it will be mailed to the home address we have on file no later than January 31, 2012, WITH an informational letter.)

Please note:

  • If you click on the 2010 link when using the above navigation in the 1098T section, you may see the message below.  The message is NOT referring to the 2011 1098-T form.  It is referring to the 2010 1098-T form that students would have received for attendance at Butler University from January 2010 through December 2010.  That document was mailed in January 2011.

School did not generate a 2010 1098-T form for you.  Common reasons for this to occur are a) you did not make any payments during the 2010 year or b) we may not have your social security number.  A social security number is required to generate a 1098-T form.  If you feel that this is an error, please contact the School Cashiers Office.

  • The 1098-T information is for tax reporting purposes only and meets Butler University's obligation for reporting per IRS guidelines.  The 1098-T information pertains to the American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning tax credits.  Our office recommends consultation with a qualified tax advisor or the IRS at (800) 829-1040 to determine eligibility for tax credits and interpreting the information our office provides.  The Office of Student Accounts' staff is not trained in tax preparation and cannot determine eligibility for tax credits.
