Tyler Johnston, Chair, called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

Committee Reports

Staff Development – They are looking for new members.

Employment Affairs – Dana Ohren reported the comment updates will be posted on the suggestion boxes. The directory is in the final stages.

Nominations & Elections – No report.

Activities & Socials – Leslie Renner announced the Angel Tree second party will be at Starbucks. The Relay for Life will be in April

Faculty Relations – Bob Marcus reported the CBA student survey is winding down and they will get results at the end of the term. ‘Who’s That’ has over 200 profiles. Julie Schrader will step in as convener.

Communications – Monica Strigari reported they are working on redecorating the Staff Assembly bulletin board.

New Business

Chuck Williams, Dean of CBA –

• Goal – To be a World Class Private College of Business
• Real Life Real Business
• All students will get a career mentor and run their own business
• Business Accelerator
• Consistent growth with 164 incoming freshmen Fall 2008
• Required to have two internships
• Employment placement rate of 100%
• CBA faculty have had 30-40 press appearances recently

Methodist Assistance Plan – John Nolan, a Methodist therapist, discussed the Methodist Assistant Plan. This is offered to Butler faculty and staff since the Butler Counseling Center just provides services to students. There are two therapists at Methodist, Mike Deaton & John Nolan. Up to 6 sessions are free. There are 4 locations. Their website is ProCare.

Trademark and Logo - Lindsay Martin from Sports Marketing relayed the new rules about using the Butler Athletics logo.

Green Tip – Alvin Perry provided a green tip.

Announcements

Two new staff members were introduced and welcomed to Butler.

The next Staff Assembly meeting will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2008.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:00pm.
