Staff Assembly Meeting Minutes
GH108 (Attendance - approximately 70)
Tyler Johnston, Chair, called the meeting to order and welcomed
everyone.
Committee Reports
There were no committee reports this month. The Executive
Committee officers are in the process of assigning conveners for
the committees.
New Business
Ben Hunter - Parking Price Change - Ben Hunter
announced that the price for parking this year will be raised to
$50. He stated everyone had a valid complaint that they haven't
heard the increase was coming. He explained where this money
goes:
- Toward the BUPD operating budget
- Repairs
- Traffic cones and supplies
- ID supplies
- Covered 12% of BUPD salaries in the past and with the increase
it will cover 15%
Public Safety Division, Where are we headed:
- Review fee structure
- Parking allocation study (Ben showed a slide of the current
parking allocation)
- Review freshman parking
- Dedicated lots
- Dedicated paid spots
Future constraints:
- Continued growth
- Neighborhood issues
He is looking at how to build capacity and will establish an
on-going standing committee by the end of the summer to look at
future parking issues. This should be a year or more process.
Joe Ader - Information Resources on Office 2007 -
'Have you made the switch?' Their goal is to move all staff/faculty
by August 1. There are 1,100 computers on campus and only 300+ have
been done as of yet. Joe presented a clip about change and then
showed a clip about the changes on Windows 2007. The biggest
difference is the Ribbon on the tool bar. Here is what IR
offers:
- Provides on-line tutorials and training sessions
- IR website has links to training for Office 2007 training
- IR will install an icon in the Start menu to install Office
2007 after training
- Getting Started Videos on the website
- Guides to show where certain commands are in the new
software
- Free software to install the upgrade at home if attend
training
- Discounts for hardware and software, hardware usually are 5-10%
off
Julie Pakenham - Backpack ATTACK! - Backpack
ATTACK is conducted through Indy United Way and will take place
from July 7 through August 7. Collection boxes will be at Irwin
Library, HRC, Jordan Hall, Holcomb Building, Atherton Union, and
the Apartment Village, and the July Staff Assembly General Meeting.
This is for new items only. The items will be distributed at the
Indianapolis Children's Museum.
Announcements
Two new staff members were introduced and welcomed to
Butler.
The next Staff Assembly meeting will be on Wednesday, July 17,
2009 and held at Clowes Hall. Everyone should enter through the
east side stage door.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm.
