Staff Assembly Meeting Minutes

GH108 (Attendance - approximately 119)

Tyler Johnston, Chair, called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

Committee Reports

Staff Development - Gary Beaulieu - No report.

Employment Affairs - Bob Holm reported about the directory and gave locations of the comment boxes. Responses to suggestions/comments are posted on the hub and listed in the newsletter.

Nominations & Elections - No report.

Activities & Socials - Sandy Schleef announced the following activities: there will be a Nova Scotia travel presentation tomorrow at the Blue House, a door decorating contest for the holidays, Wii bowling night for staff and family, and a family friendly variety show entitled Sunset Variety Show.

Faculty Relations - Bob Marcus reported that 1 in 5 staff will be contacted for a 5 minute survey that will be conducted on faculty staff relations through CBA. 'Who's That' has 130 employees posted. They need one member to join this committee.

Communications - Marsha Endre reported that all staff can email her with any information to post in the newsletter.

Guest Speaker

Jonathan Small - Dr. Fong introduced Jonathan Small. Staff will be receiving letters at the end of this month pertaining to the compensation study.

Strategic Planning Process - The Strategic Plan Steering Committee's draft will be released to campus this Friday. A sub-committee will create electronic means for responses and wants Staff Assembly, SGA and other areas to hold discussion forums. They welcome any and all comments. Trustees will vote on the Strategic Plan in May 2009.

Ray's Trash - Dick Hamm introduced Susie Denton, Ray's Trash Premier Account Representative. She informed the Assembly about their recycling programs.

New Business

Brown Bag Lunch - There will be a Brown Bag lunch in the Johnson Room on Thursday October 2 nd. We request staff input on Staff Assembly structure and goals.

Green Tip - Chris Carlson and Kathleen Hood discussed the Carbon Footprint Reduction Class.

Three new staff members were introduced and welcomed to Butler.

The next Staff Assembly meeting will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
