Staff Assembly Meeting Minutes
GH108 (Attendance - approximately 76)
Andy Ryan, Chair, called the meeting to order
and welcomed everyone.
Faculty Relations - Julie Schrader reported the
"Who's THAT?" program is going well. The newly appointed faculty
members will be joining the committee at the next meeting on April
Employment Affairs - Campus Sweep will be on
April 29 followed by the faculty/staff picnic.
Activities & Socials - Sandy Schleef told
everyone to check the Butler HUB/Garden Club if there are other
plants anyone wants that were not at the Plant Swap today. She
announced dates and locations of several other plant sales in the
Communications - Jo Wagoner reminded everyone
to continue to check the Butler HUB. The committee is still in need
of more members.
Nominations & Elections - Patti Colip
announced the committee members are now contacting those
individuals who have been nominated for the Executive Committee to
confirm that they will accept the nomination. The elections will be
done on-line. The election results will be announced at the May
Staff Assembly meeting.
Staff Survey - Andy gave a PowerPoint
presentation on the results of the Staff Survey - See Attachment to
review the presentation.
Commencement Volunteers - The Assembly was
reminded that volunteers are needed to help with Commencement on
Tom Weede, Vice President of Enrollment
Management, gave an update on the 2008 freshmen class. Some of the
points he made were: applications have increased, although fewer
students have been accepted, the quality of the application pool is
higher than in the past, Butler's reputation has improved, students
are applying to more schools because of electronics. He also said
that Scott McIntire has resigned and there is now a search to fill
The various Staff Assembly committees will continue to work over
One new staff member was introduced and welcomed to Butler. Door
prize drawings were held at the conclusion of the meeting.
The next Staff Assembly meeting will be on Wednesday, May 14,
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
