Butler Cheerleaders and Mascots
2009-2010 Butler Cheerleading
The 2009-2010 Butler University cheerleading program
currently consists of one co-ed squad. The Cheerleaders are part of
the Division of Student Affairs, and work with the university bands
to create and promote spirit for Butler games and events. They
cheer primarily for football and men's basketball games, along
with women's basketball games and volleyball matches. The
cheerleaders also participate in university and community events as
representatives of Butler.
The squad is selected in the spring to begin preparing for the
upcoming year. These individuals get together occasionally over the
summer to practice, and are on hand for events such as the
Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade and Butler's "Welcome Week." The
squad then attends a UCA college spirit camp in August. An
additional tryout is held, if necessary, during the second week of
the fall semester.
