Spring 2014 Tryout Skill Requirements
For new candidates, experience isn't necessary, we are looking
for potential. We are looking for good "all-around" cheerleaders at
Butler who can be strong in all areas.
Tumbling: (Females must perform a minimum
of a standing back handspring to be considered)
- Standing Back handspring*
- Standing Back handspring back tuck
- Standing Back tuck
- 2 Running tumbling passes of choice (Passes must be
ALL FEMALES ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO PERFORM A TUCK IN EITHER
STANDING OR RUNNING TUMBLING!
- Toe-touch & Optional Jump (other than a toe-touch)
- Jumps may be performed with a back handspring or tuck
- Double or Triple jump combinations may also be performed*
Co-ed Partner Stunts (for all females that could be
considered to fly co-ed or middle base):
- Purdue-up to shoulder stand
- Toss & Walk-in Chair
- Toss to Hands and/or Optional Stunt (if you have one)
* = For new candidates. Experience is not necessary - we are
looking for potential!
Returning Co-ed Flyers: Candidates must
demonstrate a Toss or walk-in hands, extension, and/or liberty.
All-Girl Stunts: Determined by your past
experience as a base, flyer, or back spot. Stunt groups will be put
together and basic stunts will be performed for evaluation.
Extensions and Liberties will be evaluated the same for females
whether the candidate is flying or basing. Female candidates
can select to be evaluated as a base, back, or flyer only.
Since we utilize all-girl stunting at Butler, we will be looking
very strongly at stunting roles! If you are versatile, it will help
Motions: Candidates will learn two Fight Songs,
Band Chant, and 3 sidelines that will be performed and evaluated in
small groups. A Standing back handspring or tuck is at the end of
the Fight Song.
Tumbling: If you have it, we'd like to see
it. You also must be willing to work on it during the
Co-ed Partner Stunts: Same as females. Prior
stunting experience isn't necessary. We are looking for
potential and desire to become a strong, safe lifter.
Returning Males: Must demonstrate a Toss or
walk-in hands & extension.
