Welcome to the Butler Athletic Bands
We invite you to become part of the Butler University Marching
Band and Colorguard (BUMB), and the Butler University Basketball
Band (BUBB). We are looking for talented performers on any wind or
percussion instrument, guitar, bass guitar, mallet or electronic
keyboards, flag/colorguard, twirlers or dancers. We want YOU to be
a part of this exciting and fun group!
The BUMB is a great way to make 100+ friends in a hurry, and
participation fulfills your core Physical Well Being PE
requirement. You have to take a gym class sometime and
you receive a $100.00 tuition reduction for participating in
the BUMB. No other gym class at Butler does that!
Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:30
p.m. Our season ends some six weeks or so before finals, so
rehearsal times get put back into your "I decide how to use it"
schedule just when you need it most!
There is no "Band Camp" or other reason you need to come to
campus early. The first rehearsal is simply on the first day
of classes. We do ask that you follow our "Preseason
Technique Program" this summer. Doing so really helps us get
started with a good solid sound. Both the band's fall
schedule and the Technique Program can be found under "Forms and
The Basketball Band (BUBB) is 100+ members strong and contains
some of Butler's most rabid fans. The play list for the group
contains over 180 songs and produces a sound best described as a
"50's-90's Ska/Swing/Pop/Rock & Roll band with a rather large
horn section." The BUBB follows the Butler basketball teams during
postseason play and supported our Bulldogs through their historic
national championship runs in 2010 and 2011. In 2011 Butler
was the defending Final Four "Battle of the Bands" Champion having
won that distinction in 2010.
For more information on joining BUBB click HERE, or simply join Marching
Band to be on the early track to the Butler Basketball Band.
The first BUBB rehearsal of 2014-2015 is Wednesday, October 1st in
Lilly Hall room 112 at 4:30 p.m.
Register for band and
colorguard/flagline (PWB 140) during your New Student Registration
visit to campus. Remember the band when you're planning your
schedule. It's easier to build fun into your academic routine right
from the beginning than to change your class schedule later!
