Meet the Tutors

All Lab tutors are not communication studies majors! Lab tutors are a diverse group representing a multitude of majors and the majority of colleges on campus. Learn more about each tutor below.

Michelle Berg - Pre-Pharmacy and Spanish
Michelle comes to Butler from Wheatfield, Indiana. Currently completing her fourth semester in Lab, Michelle enjoys helping others and guiding them to perfect their presentations. When she graduates, Michelle hopes to become a pharmacist and work somewhere she will be able to use her Spanish minor. Hopefully she'll have time for her dream vacation to Greece!

Kirstin Brown - Media Arts and Communication Studies
Kirstin, a sophomore from Valparaiso, Indiana, is completing her first year as a Lab tutor. She likes interacting with students and sharing her knowledge with them. After graduation, Kirstin hopes to become a news anchor. In the meantime, she dreams of visiting Paris, the city of light!

Ashley Butler - Biology and Psychology
Ashley comes to Lab from Mooresville, Indiana. She is completing her second semester of service to Lab, where she enjoys watching students make progress in their presentations. After graduation, Ashley hopes to attend IU medical school to study neuroscience. Her dream destination is New Zealand.

Michelle Ekern - Marketing and Sociology
Michelle comes to Butler from Midland, Michigan. Michelle is finishing her senior year and her sixth semester in Lab. Michelle loves meeting new people and her organization in Lab helps her make the most out of each session. Currently, Michelle is working as New Tutor Coordinator for Lab, but after graduation, she hopes to work in corporate marketing research. Her dream vacation would be trekking all over Europe.

Jessica Ciccarello - Biology and Spanish / Communication Studies
Jessica, a sophomore from Noblesville, Indiana, is completing her second semester of service to Lab. She enjoys meeting new people and helping them improve their presentations. Following graduation, Jessica would like to work in scientific research. She would like to travel around the world, definitely stopping in Australia.

Alex Fenton - Economics and Chinese
Alex, a sophomore, joins Lab from East Grand Rapids, Michigan. Completing his third semester with Lab, Alex is responsible for creating and maintaining our new website. After Butler, Alex wants to do something with manufacturing and eventually start a charitable foundation. Until then, he'd like to visit Wuhan, China, where his Chinese name (Feng Bao Li) means "Precious Benefit"!

Liz Freedman - Spanish and Business Studies/Communications
Liz hails from Homewood, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. She is a junior and is enjoying her fourth semester as a Lab tutor. Liz is enthusiastic about Lab and enjoys interacting with students. After Butler, Liz wants to move on to graduate school. She'd love to visit Ireland.

Krissy Wilkerson - Marketing
Krissy hails from North Vernon, Indiana. A junior, Krissy is wrapping up her second year as a Lab tutor and her first year as a Manager. In Lab, Krissy enjoys interacting with students to help them improve. Krissy aspires to be a corporate lawyer someday and visit Rome, Italy.

Alyson Harmon - Mathematic and Spanish
From Granger, Indiana, Alyson is a senior finishing up her third year as a Lab tutor. She enjoys seeing students' creativity in Lab and helping them overcome nerves. Alyson is also instrumental in coordinating Lab's work with New Hope through the Community Outreach project group. After graduation, Alyson is deciding between optometry or physical therapy. She dreams of visiting exotic Egypt and Australia.

Margaret Hermanekn - Public Relations and Sociology
Margaret joins Speakers Lab from Chicago, Illinois. Yes, actually Chicago! Margaret is finishing up her fourth semester as a tutor and second semester as a Manager. In Lab, Margaret enjoys seeing students improve and learning as much from the presentations as she can! After Butler, Margaret plans to work in Public Relations and travel the world.

Benny Martinson - Vocal Performance and Musical Composition
Benny joins Lab from Eagle River, Alaska (where he does not live in an igloo)! He is in his second semester as a tutor and likes working with students on both sides of controversial issues. After graduation, Benny would like to work as a professional counter-tenor. Tuva is at the top of his travel list.

Stacey Scheidler - Pharmacy and Spanish
Stacy hails from Greenwood, Indiana. Currently in her second semester as a tutor, Stacy will serve as the New Tutor Recruiter for 2008. She enjoys working with students to help them realize their potential. After graduation, Stacy hopes to become a respectable pharmacist. Her dream vacation would include England and Australia.

Nick Perry - Chemistry / Communication Studies and Biology
Nick comes to Lab from Greenwood, Indiana. This is Nick's second semester in Lab, where he is preparing to become a Manager for the 2008-2009 academic year. He likes working with a variety of students and presentations. Upon graduating, Nick plans on pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. His dream vacation would be to Rome, Italy.

Bobby Phillips - Music Performance and Electronic Journalism
Bobby hails from New Hartford, Connecticut. A junior, Bobby is finishing his second year as a Lab tutor. He likes to get students pumped about their presentations in Lab. After Butler, Bobby hopes to be in a professional orchestra or become a broadcast journalist. He'd love to visit London, England!

Alexey Uversky - Math and Computer Engineering
Alexey joins Lab all the way from Purchino (read Puschino), Russia! This is Alexey's second semester in Lab and he loves the aspect of helping people. After graduation, Alexey thinks he wants to become a math professor, but is still deciding. His dream destination is Rome, Italy.

Randi Kelly - Communication Studies/Business and Spanish
Randi, a sophomore, joins Lab from Naperville, IL. In her second semester as a tutor, Randi enjoys helping her peers through her passion for communication. Someday, she hopes to visit Sydney, Australia or Spain!

Katy Benson - Elementary Education
Katy joins Lab from Carmel, IN. In her second semester with Lab, Katy likes helping others build necessary communication skills. An avid soccer fan, Katy's dream destination would be a trip to England to cheer on Chelsea Football Club!
