Highlights of the Semester
The annual career panel was held in November. The panel
included alumni and others representing several professional career
areas of our students: a social worker, a lawyer, an
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer, and a Salvation Army case
manager. Students engaged in discussions and asked
questions about the different fields of
study.
In partnership with the Salvation Army Social Service Center,
SSA arranged travel and hosted a group of children from the shelter
to a basketball game.
The SSA is currently soliciting nominations for the two altruism
scholarship awards to Butler students: The Weidner Award for
Altruism and The Indianapolis Downtown Rotary Club Award for
Altruism. The two scholarships will be awarded at the
Sociology and Criminology Department Spring Banquet.
The Student Sociology Association will also be planning the
department spring banquet (April 12) in conjunction with the
members of Alpha Kappa Delta. All elements of the dinner --
program, decorations, awards, initiation -- will be the
responsibility of these two associations.
