 The 2012-2013 Sociology & Criminology Department Award Winners:

  • Katelin Biermann & Bradley Vogelsmeier  - Award for Excellence, presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement in the major.
  • Katie Clark  - Jane Addams Award, recognizes the student who best demonstrates the link between sociological thought and service.
  • Haley Cook  - C. Wright Mills Award, presented to the student who best demonstrates the application of sociological imagination to social issues.
  • Nicole Humphrey  - Edwin G. Sutherland Award, given to the student who best displays an aptitude for criminology.
  • Bradley Vogelsmeier  - Emile Durkheim Award, presented to the student who best demonstrates the link between social theory and empirical research in her/his senior research project.
  • Sarah Bauman and Laura Lines  - Dr. Richard E. Martin Scholarship Award, presented to two students based on academic performance and service to the community in memory of Martin, a sociologist, professor and administrator at Butler for 31 years.
