Summer Programs

Critical Language Scholarship Program ~ Show Information

  • Program costs - airfare, tuition, room and board, cultural program expenses, overseas health benefits, and applicable visa fees - are fully covered for all participants. Participants receive a small stipend to cover incidental expenses and meals not provided by the program
  • The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply
  • Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish, and Urdu: Beginning, advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; Arabic and Persian: Advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; Chinese, Japanese, and Russian: Intermediate and advanced levels.
  • Application deadline: fall
  • Available to: US citizens over the age of 18 enrolled at an accredited US degree-granting program at the undergraduate or graduate level (applicants must have completed at least one year of study)

Fulbright Summer Institute
For current undergraduates with at least two years left in their degrees. ~ Show Information

  • Summer programmes provide the opportunity for US undergraduates (aged over 18), with at least two years of undergraduate study left to complete, to come to the UK on a three, four, five or six week academic and cultural summer programme
  • Participants in these programmes will get the opportunity to experience an exciting academic programme at a highly regarded UK University, explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK and develop their academic ability by improving presentation, research and communication skills
  • Application deadline: late February or early March (see website for specific Institute)
  • Available to: US citizens over the age of 18 with two years of undergraduate study left to complete

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program ~ Show Information

  • Offers 15-20 undergraduates the opportunity to participate in a 6-week summer program that explores issues and trends in international affairs, as well as a greater understanding of career opportunities in that field
  • Participants live and attend classes at Howard University in Washington, DC
  • Application deadline: early February
  • Available to:  U.S. citizens with a minimum 3.2 undergraduate GPA who have an interest in international affairs
