State of the University Address
In his annual Butler State of the University address on August
17, President James M. Danko highlighted Butler's progress toward
becoming one of the nation's distinguished universities. He
discussed Butler's evolving strategic vision and the role the
University would play in the changing world of higher
education.
A Shared Strategic Vision for Butler University was distributed
and referenced as a summary of proposed high-level action items,
consideration of which would be critical to the refinement and
implementation of Butler's future goals. Danko underscored the
importance of the contributions of all key stakeholders in critical
discussions about the University's future.
Danko shared his perspective on the disruptive and competitive
forces occurring within higher education and he challenged the
University community to preserve Butler's collaborative approach to
education. Underscoring the importance of Butler being recognized
as a creative leader in the transmission of knowledge, Danko
encouraged a continual investment in ideas through Butler
Innovation. This new and critical initiative focuses on empowering
the University and its faculty to develop innovative programs,
while transforming Butler into a national model for the future of
higher education.
