Mock Trial Team

Mock Trial Team imageButler University Mock Trial Team competes annually in two events. The first event takes place during the first semester and serves as a practice tournament. The second event is the regional tournament that occurs in February. Butler students have won both Outstanding Attorney and Witness Awards at this tournament.

Mock Trial Team is composed of a group of eight students that work hand-in-hand with local attorneys that specialize in both criminal and civil litigation. The group is given a case that they spend several months learning and preparing for competition. The students also take a great deal of time to learn proper courtroom procedure, including entering evidence, examining witnesses, and objecting.

This organization gives students a glimpse of what it might be like to have a career as a courtroom lawyer. It also helps to develop skills such as critical thinking and logic.
