Requirements for Consideration by IU:

  • Biological sciences with lab (BI120-123, BI301, BI303 and BI322*)
    *BI322 is only offered every other year in the spring. Please plan accordingly.
  • General chemistry with lab (CH105 & CH106 or CH107)
  • Organic chemistry with lab (CH351 & CH352)
  • Physics with lab (PH107 & PH108 or PH201 & PH202)
  • Biochemistry (BI461)
  • Introduction to Psychology (PS101)
  • English Composition (EN102)
  • Speech (SH198)
  • Dental Admission Test (DAT)
  • Apply through American Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS)
  • Current photograph
  • Three letters of recommendation:
    • one from a dentist
  • Minimum interview qualifications
    • Indiana residents - DAT - All sections with a score of a 13 or higher
    • nonresidents - DAT - All sections with a score of 14 or higher

Recommendationsions for acceptance to IU:

  • Spend time in several dental offices to observe and discuss the profession
  • Well-rounded individual with interests and hobbies beyond academics
  • Criteria used for selection of students include your science GPA, overall GPA, DAT scores, academic and personal recommendations, results from the personal interview, and exposure to the field of dentistry

  • Overall GPA = 3.40
  • Science GPA = 3.35

    • Academic Average = 17.7
    • Perceptual Average = 17.0
    • Total Science Average = 17.3
