Michael Samide, Ph.D. Michael Samide, Ph.D. - Pre-Health Professions Advisor
(317) 940-9973
msamide@butler.edu

Dr. Samide, associate professor of chemistry, advises all students interested in the health professions including medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine and physical therapy. He also advises students who have declared chemistry as their major and first and second year students in the exploratory studies program.

Dr. Samide obtained a B.S in chemistry at Wheaton College in Illinois. He then completed a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Indiana University in 1998. Dr. Samide has been teaching at Butler since 2000. Prior to teaching at Butler he was a visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Indiana University.

Dr. Samide offers the following advice to undergraduates:

"I believe that all undergraduate students, but especially those who are serious about continuing their education at a graduate level, need to treat their undergraduate career as a career. Studying and learning is the student's job for the next four years, and it is not an easy job. If you wish to be successful and land a good job or place into a graduate or professional school, put in the time and effort to become the best candidate possible. It's all in your hands!
