| The
theme of the evening, “How does politics affect your major?”
was addressed by representatives from a variety of academic
disciplines, from pharmacy to education to philosophy. Students
got a glimpse of the impact politics has on the laws and policies
affecting both academic and professional fields. Students were
also able to register to vote. Representatives from the College
Republicans and Democrats were available to entertain questions
about party issues as well as to promote their party’s
platforms. For the second half of the festival, William
J. Ruppel, Indiana State Representative, spoke to students
about the importance of political involvement. The festival
was organized by Allyson Emley, President of the Butler Political
Science Association and Michael Weiseman, BPSA Coordinator.
Aramark catered fresh fruits, cookies, and lemonade. Students
received free t-shirts, pins, stickers, candy, and a plethora
of information. The finale of the evening included a raffle
of a $50 dollar VISA gift card. -- Kym Anglin |
