The Bunche Experience

Under the direction of Paula D. McClain, professor of political science and law at Duke University, the Ralph Buche Summer Institute introduces 20 talented minority undergraduate students between their junior and senior years to the intellectual rigors of graduate school and political science research methods. RBSI immerses these undergraduates in a five-week, graduate-level program which inlcudes the design, analysis, write-up, and presentation of original research papers. Educational activities range from lectures in a formal classroom setting to informal dinners and lunches with prominent political scientists. The program includes a strong ethics component involving readings, cases, debates, and lectures on issues within an academic setting.
