Audition Materials for Instrumental EnsemblesUpdated for Fall Semester 2008 Please read the following information and instructions before downloading audition materials! Many frequently asked questions are addressed below. Welcome to the web-based instrumental ensemble audition process. Students with usernames may download and print audition music for the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Combo from Butler University’s E-reserve system. Important: ALL Instrumental Ensembles, except marching band, require an audition. We want to get to know each person’s present ability, level and potential. Please prepare either the Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band audition music or the Symphony Orchestra excerpts. The directors of all the major instrumental ensembles will be present for your audition, so you will only need to play one audition to be considered for more than one ensemble. A separate audition is required, however, for the Jazz Ensembles, Jazz Combo and for placement in the percussion sections of the Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble (see below). Students intending to perform in Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, or Symphonic Band must audition for admission. Auditions for wind players (except saxophones and euphoniums) will take place on Tuesday, August 26. Auditions for all string players will take place on Monday, August 25. Saxophones and euphoniums will be on Wednesday, August 27. Students should sign up for an audition time on the bulletin boards next to Dr. Grechesky and Mr. Clark’s offices. To access audition materials, visit the Music Ensembles Auditions page at E-Reserves:https://eres.butler.edu/eres/coursepage.aspx?cid=218To enter E-Reserves you will need to provide your Butler username and password. In some cases you will need to enter "@butler.edu" after your username—see the E-reserves gateway page for more information. If you are unable to log into E-Reserves, please contact the Butler University Help Desk at (317) 940-HELP or helpdesk@butler.edu. The School of Music cannot troubleshoot E-Reserves login problems. Files are best viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Adobe Reader, it's available via a free download here. If you have questions about the E-Reserves system (or are having technical problems), please contact the Butler University Help Desk at (317) 940-HELP or helpdesk@butler.edu. Note that the gateway page for the E-Reserves system also links to a help page for students. The School of Music cannot provide technical support for the E-Reserve system.
