Music Degrees and Curricula

The School of Music at Butler University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in performance, education, composition, and academic fields.

Please note the specific uses of the terms minor, concentration, and emphasis. A student is prohibited from earning a major and a minor in the same department or school; however, the student can earn a major and a concentration in the same department or school. Hence, a concentration requires 24 credit hours, much like a minor requires. The emphasis requires 15-18 credit hours and a final project appropriate to that emphasis.
