Marvin Perry, trumpet
Marvin C. Perry II was born in Birmingham, AL, and earned a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music and an M.M.Ed. from the University of Montevallo (AL). His major teachers have included Arnold Jacobs, Sidney Mear, Lloyd Geisler, John Head, Barry Shank and Walter Moeck. Before joining the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in 1975, he played with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the United States Army Band in Washington, D.C.
Perry is on the faculty of Butler University and has held visiting professorships at DePauw and Indiana Universities and Grace College. He has been a frequent soloist with the ISO as well as a Side by Side section coach. He and his wife are the parents of five children and are active members of their church. When not on stage, Perry enjoys riding his motorcycle (with the side car!) and camping.
