Dr. Richard Osborne, music theory, professor emeritus
Professor Osborne retired in May 1997 after teaching for over 35 years but has returned to the
faculty as an adjunct instructor. He was originally appointed to the Jordan College of Fine Arts
in 1963. He did his undergraduate work at Wittenberg University and received his M.A. and Ph.D.
from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Osborne served for several years as the Associate Dean of
Jordan College, and coordinator of graduate studies in music. He is a frequent pianist and
accompanist at private functions. He is a member of the Society for Music Theory and the
National Academic Advising Association.
