Trina Gross

Clarinetist Trina Gross joined the Butler faculty in fall of 2014.  Ms. Gross has been a member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra clarinet section since 2002.  Prior to joining the symphony, she was Principal Clarinet in the Louisville and Augusta Symphony Orchestras.  Ms. Gross has also held positions with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra.  As an active chamber musician, she is a founding member of the Circle City Winds and performs frequently with other ensembles in Indianapolis.  Ms. Gross has appeared as a soloist with the Augusta Symphony Orchestra, the Indiana State University Wind Ensemble, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. 

As an educator, Ms. Gross has held teaching positions at Indiana State University where she taught private lessons, was a member of the faculty woodwind quintet and the Philharmonia à Vent. She is also an adjunct instructor at the University of Indianapolis.  She has been a private lesson teacher for the past 20 years.  Additionally, Ms. Gross also maintains a successful private studio in her home. 

Ms. Gross grew up in Rochester, New York and earned her Bachelor of Music in performance at the Eastman School of Music.  She received her Master of Music, Performance Certificate, and a Performer Diploma at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.  Her major teachers are Eli Eban, James Campbell, Charles Neidich, William Osseck, and Dr. Margaret Quackenbush.
