Mark Gilgallon, voice

Mark Gilgallon graduated with honors with bachelor of music
degrees in education and performance and a master of music in vocal
performance from Illinois State University. A native of Chicago,
this 1995 Indiana NATS Artist Award winner has appeared in recital
at the Australian embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Harold
Washington and Newbury libraries in Chicago. A versatile singing
actor, Mr. Gilgallon's roles range from Henry Higgins in My
Fair Lady to Giorgio Germont in Verdi's La
Traviata.
A familiar face to Indianapolis audiences, Mark has sung
numerous leading roles with the Indianapolis Opera most recently as
the Bailiff in Massenet's Werther. As a soloist, Mark has
appeared with the Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis Symphonies
under the direction of Jack Everly, and he made his solo Carnegie
Hall debut with the National Children's Chorus under the direction
of Henry Leck.
A former Artistic Ambassador to India, Pakistan and Bahrain for
the United Information Agency, Mark performed concerts of American
music for heads of state and other dignitaries with accompanist
Catherine Bringerud. Mark's teachers and coaches have included
Margaret Harshaw, John Wustman, Donald Armstrong, Eric Dahlheim,
Charlotte Vacano and William McDonald.
