Kelly Swensson, Instructor of Bassoon

Kelly Swensson 

Kelly Swensson is Instructor of Bassoon at the Jordan College of the Arts at Butler University.  A native of Indianapolis, Kelly enjoys an active freelance career and has performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, and other regional orchestras, as well as being an active studio musician.  She has performed concertos with numerous ensembles, including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Butler University Symphony Orchestra.  In 2012, Kelly was a finalist in the international Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, after having been a semi-finalist in 2010.

Kelly received a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music studying with George Sakakeeny and a Master of Music degree from Butler University, where she studied with Doug Spaniol and served as Graduate Assistant in Music Theory.  She has also studied at the Colburn School in Los Angeles with Richard Beene and at Northwestern University with Dennis Michel.
