Karen Moratz, flute
Principal flutist of the Indianapolis Symphony since March 1989,
adjunct instructor Karen Moratz received her Master of Music from
the Hochschule fuer Musik Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany and her
Bachelor's Degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins
University. Her studies were with William Bennett, Timothy Day, and
Britton Johnson. Previously Ms. Moratz has been a member of the New
World Symphony, the Harrisburg Symphony, and the Annapolis Symphony
Orchestras. She is also a founding member of the Indianapolis
Baroque Orchestra, and has recorded on the Arabesque and Koss
labels, notably on the disc Neon Rhythm: works of Judith Lang
Zaimont. She has taught at Indiana University and the University of
Illinois, lectured with the Grand Teton Orchestral Seminar, and has
frequently led masterclasses and workshops throughout the U.S.
