Audition Materials for Instrumental Ensembles
Updated for Fall Semester 2011
Please read the following information and
instructions before downloading audition
materials! Many frequently asked questions are addressed below.
Welcome to the web-based instrumental ensemble audition process.
Students with usernames may download and print audition music for
the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz
Ensembles and Jazz Combo from Butler University's E-Reserve
system.
Important: ALL Instrumental Ensembles, except
marching band, require an audition. We want to get to know each
person's present ability, level and potential. Please prepare
either the Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band audition music or the
Symphony Orchestra excerpts. The directors of all the major
instrumental ensembles will be present for your audition, so you
will only need to play one audition to be considered for more than
one ensemble. A separate audition is required, however, for the
Jazz Ensembles, Jazz Combo and for placement in the percussion
sections of the Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
