Sigma Delta Pi

Sigma Delta Pi, the
National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, was founded in 1919 to
honor those who attain excellence in the study of the language,
literatures, and cultures of Spanish-speaking peoples. It currently
has over 500 chapters throughout the United States. The Society's
colors are red and gold and its flower is the red carnation. The
Delta Upsilon chapter was established at Butler in 1960. Our
chapter traditionally holds one initiation ceremony per school
year. Membership dues are paid once for life-time membership in the
society. New members receive the society's honor cord (which may be
worn at the graduation ceremony), membership pin, and hand-lettered
certificate.
