With three instructors and about 100 students a semester, you will not be alone in pursuing your interest in German. We also have a weekly "Stammtisch", an active German Klub many German film showings throughout the semester, and encourage students both through curricular and extracurricular activities to get involved in the Indianapolis German community.

If you decide for a major in German or maybe are just thinking about a minor right now, know that many students spend at least one semester at one of our many partner institutions for study abroad. Butler German students have recently studied at universities in Tübingen, Heidelberg, Marburg, Dortmund and Berlin and have taken part in internship programs in Cologne.

Many Butler German students chose to add a second major to their studies, and our Advanced Placement Credit program strongly encourages you to look into this possibility. At Butler you might double-major in Music, History, International Studies, Business, Education, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy and many more!
