The Modern Language Center (MLC) serves as a resource center for student and faculty media needs.

What can I do in the MLC?

  • Watch a movie!  Did you know we have an extensive foreign film collection to help you immerse yourself in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish and even Russian culture?
  • Play Wii!  Our Wii plays with you in French and Spanish!
  • Do your homework!  We have dictionaries and other resources for you to perfect your language skills.  the space was renovated in 2011 and is a fantastic place to be.
  • Have a club meeting!  Sign up to use the MLC for your next club meeting.  Just email mstigter@butler.edu for more information.
  • Check out materials for your language classes!  Listening comprehension exercises are available for French and German.
  • Use a computer!
  • Have fun with apps in your new language on a Google TV!
  • Practice your conversation skills! All of the MLC assistants speak a language that we teach. Just ask your instructor.
  • Cook up something new!  Have you always wanted to try a recipe, but didn't know how to measure out the grams?  We have a metric kitchen scale available for overnight checkout for you to whip up your next culinary delight.

So stop in, bring some homework, meet with classmates or just relax a little in the MLC. You are sure to find someone who speaks your language here!
