Media Arts Portfolio Requirement
Students admitted to the program are required to maintain a portfolio of their work. The student’s advisor will assist in preparation and will review the portfolio. At the end of the sophomore year the advisor will place a written evaluation of the portfolio in the students file. The final portfolio will be submitted to the faculty no later than April 1 of the senior year. The faculty will evaluate the portfolio and make any recommendations to the student. The final portfolio must be accepted in writing by the faculty before the department chair will certify the student for graduation.

JCFA Performance Requirements
As an essential component of a full and varied educational experience in the arts, undergraduate JCFA majors are expected to attend performances in their discipline and related areas. To that end, all freshman and sophomore students in Media Arts must complete, in academic year sequence, JC100 and JC200 (Performance Attendance) – non-credit, P/F courses – during the spring terms of each year of enrollment. Completion of the course is through verified attendance at four approved performances (distributed among Dance, Theatre and Music events). To receive credit for an on-campus event, obtain a Performance Attendance card from a faculty member or Clowes Hall staff member prior to the start of the performance. Complete the card and return it to the person in charge at the conclusion of the performance. Outside events are limited to those that are closely related in nature to production in Butler’s Dance, Music, and Theatre departments.
