Working with Marketing and Communications
Butler's University Marketing and Communications division is
your creative partner. Whether it's developing a results-oriented
marketing plan, an eye-catching brochure, or a well-crafted press
release, we're here to take the lead and help you meet your
marketing and communications goals.
Before starting a project we encourage you to think about the
following:
- Intended Purpose and Audience: What do you
hope to accomplish? For example, are you trying to build awareness
or encourage attendance at an event? Who are you trying to
reach?
- Timeline: When do you need your project?
Timelines vary widely based on the scope of a project. Review
our guidelines to understand how long a
job generally takes to complete.
- Key Contact: Who will be the main contact for
the project? Who will have authority to give final approval?
- Budget: How much money do you have available
to spend on the project? (Our editorial, design, project
management, and most photography services are offered at no charge.
You will have to pay for printing expenses, the purchase of stock
photography if required, and advertising costs.) We will solicit
printing quotes and select an appropriate vendor, but need to have
an idea of your budget before proceeding with a project.
- Content Development: If you have a print or
web job, are you providing copy? The Office of Public Relations can
provide writing assistance, but need to have time built into the
process for this. We always provide editing assistance to ensure
clarity and adherence to established University editorial
standards.
