Reference: Where, What & Why

A Reference desk is a place where anyone can (and should!) go to ask for assistance in a library.

The Information Commons has a computer lab which includes 26 PCs as well as the Reference Desk which is staffed by Information Commons Assistants.

Some types of questions you could ask:

  • Research questions
Where do I look for criticism on Shakespeare?
I need information on cloning and ethics, where do I start?
Who are competitors for a specific company?
  • Background or factual questions
    When was Thomas Edison born?
    When was Lincoln president?
    What is Modernism, Post-Colonialism, etc.?
