Libraries & Their Differences

Many of you are probably very comfortable working in your high school or local public library, however... the Butler University Libraries are different.

  • The collection of books is academic
  • It is specifically meant for study and research at the college level.
  • There is no separate section for fiction books; they are shelved with the rest of the literature books.
  • We also have CDs, DVDs, videos, and musical scores - mostly for classroom use, study & research, not entertainment.
  • We use the Library of Congress classification system, not Dewey Decimal.
