How do I find articles in Scholarly, Professional/Trade,
or General/Popular journals?
To find articles in Scholarly journals, use a
database that indexes scholarly articles, such as:
- PsychInfo
- MLA Bibliography
- Medline
- Hint: When using EBSCOhost, use the Peer-Review
Option to get scholarly articles
To find articles in Professional/Trade or
Popular journals, use a database such as:
- Academic Search Premier
- Lexis/Nexis Academic
Once you have a citation to an article, evaluate the citation by
looking at the journal title. If you don't know if the journal is
Scholarly, Trade, or a Popular magazine, check with a reference
librarian.
You can get the text of the article electronically or in print.
Please ask a reference librarian if you need assistance finding the
text of an article.
