Computer Use Policy
Butler Community
Library workstations are available to all Butler University
students, faculty, staff, and emeriti. Patrons may log on using
their Butler username/password. Members of the Butler community are
allowed full access to all workstation resources. If you are a
member of the Butler community and are unable to logon (e.g.,
username/password not working, new student, forgot your password,
etc.) please go to the Information Commons Desk or Science Library
Service Desk for assistance.
Visitors
Visitors to Irwin Library may ask for a guest logon at the
Information Commons Desk in Irwin Library or at the Service Desk of
the Science Library. Please note that during busy times, members of
the Butler community will receive preferential access to all
library workstations. Visitors who are not Butler alumni or
students of a PALNI or ALI school will be limited to one
hour of computer use. Butler alumni may print from wired
library workstations upon presentation of a Butler Alumni ID
card. Public users who are not alumni do not have printing
privileges, but may e-mail content to their e-mail account or save
the content to a USB flash drive. Abuse of computer
privileges or disturbing other library patrons will result in
denial of future services.
To use the copier/scanner, general public and alumni visitors
should go to the Irwin Library Information Commons Desk in Irwin
Library or the Science Library Service Desk and ask for a copy card
to be prepared for use with the copier/scanner. Scanning to
e-mail is free, and photocopies can be made for $.20 per
page. Photocopies requested in the Irwin Library Special
Collections area will also cost $.20 per page.
Children under 18 will not be logged onto a computer unless
accompanied by an adult.
