Liberal Arts Statement

My liberal arts background provided me with a good foundation
for my work over the years as a university instructor, equity
research analyst, bank economist and strategist and for my current
position as portfolio manager.
Liberal arts have enriched my life. My life's work, though, is
not my life.
Material studied in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and
in later years has made me more tolerant of people with different
backgrounds and of people with opinions different than my own.
The subjects studied, I hope, have also moved me closer to my
goal of being a "citizen patriot"-one informed about community,
national and world events.
How empty my life would be without being able to appreciate art,
admire the accomplishments of the men who walked on the moon and
the people behind the scenes, or to be able to talk to my son's
class about the history of Indiana.
