Emily DeBrosse
Emily (Brown) DeBrosse graduated from Butler in 1996 with a
Bachelor's Degree in English (Creative Writing emphasis). She's a
Hoosier born and bred, and arrived on campus without a declared
major or chosen profession. This 'open-mindedness' led to a natural
fit in the English department. Complementing the creative writing
track, Emily enjoyed non-major ballet classes. As graduation loomed
but a professional spark eluded her, Emily earned a Public
Relations/Marketing internship with the Indiana Organ Procurement
Organization. This opportunity provided the revelation that great
organizations, causes, and companies needed more than subject
matter experts - they needed creative thinkers to deliver on their
potential.
Her professional experiences (while definitely non-linear) built
to her current role with Charles Schwab & Co. Picking enjoyable
aspects and jettisoning the mundane from each progressive step,
Emily now manages logistics and provides HR services and solutions
for internal training programs. Past professional endeavors have
included producing special events at Accent on Indianapolis and
Print Communications and fulfilling public relations/marketing
duties at the Indianapolis Private Industry Council.
Emily and her husband J.J. '95 have two boys at home. Their
daughter, Catherine, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
The family honors Cat through "Count It!" for Cat, an organization
that raises awareness of SIDS and funds an endowed scholarship at
Butler for female student-athletes.
