Jointly sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and
Jordan College of Fine Arts.
The purpose of this series is to demonstrate the vitality, vibrancy and breadth of the liberal arts as well as to provide an opportunity for members of the Butler community to come together to discuss issues from a variety of perspectives.
The symposium will consist of three way conversations about broad topics. Participants will include two leaders and the audience – faculty, staff and students – and the hope is that meaningful dialogue takes place.
The topics of the three symposia for the Fall 2007 Semester will be Freedom and Responsibility, Heart and Mind, and Art and Craft. Dates, locations and speakers are listed below.
A buffet lunch will be provided for $6.00 starting at 11:30 with the “formal” program beginning at noon. Although a subsidized lunch at this price can only be provided to faculty and staff, students are more than welcome to come to listen to the presentations. Similarly, if you prefer not to partake in the buffet, please feel free to join us for the intellectual portion of the event.
An RSVP is required for lunch. To do so, simply send a note to Cynthia Drouin (cdrouin@butler.edu) or give her a call at 940-8027.
