The faculty and staff in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are dedicated to helping students appreciate the nature and breadth of the liberal arts. By including statements explaining how a particular course fits into the context of a liberal education, faculty and staff hope to encourage students to think about the ways in which a course fits broadly into their educational careers. Additionally, by highlighting the various virtues inherent in a liberal education, these statements should help students make important connections they might otherwise miss.
