Each year a faculty member is asked to write a statement for the incoming class about the value of a liberal arts education here at Butler. This year's essay, Liberal Education: Magical Arithmetic, was written by Dr. Judith Morrel, Associate Dean, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Associate Professor, Mathematics & Actuarial Science.

CrossCurrents - Interdisciplinary Faculty/Staff Reading Groups:The goal of CrossCurrents is to bring small groups of faculty and staff from all corners of the University together to explore topics of interest. After settling on a topic, each group reads and discusses a minimum of three texts. When the group finishes their explorations, they present a panel discussion for colleagues on their topic.
