Many of our graduates go on to traditional careers in
journalism-print media, public relations, advertising, and
not-for-profit and corporate communication. But they are also well
prepared for law school or graduate school. Some of our recent
journalism graduates have enrolled in prestigious programs such as
the Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy, Yale and
Michigan Law Schools, Georgetown's School of International Affairs
and American University's School of Public Affairs.
Our journalism graduates have also combined their skills in mass
communication with an interest in:
- Sports…for careers in sports marketing/information and sports
reporting.
- Performing or visual art…for careers in arts administration,
art criticism and the coverage of arts and entertainment for a
variety of publications/media outlets or the marketing and
promotion of arts or entertainment organizations, events, exhibits
and artists.
- Spanish (or other foreign language)…for careers with
organizations whose target-market includes a Spanish-speaking
public in the U.S. and abroad.
- Business, finance or economics...for careers in corporate
communication, investor relations or business/finance
reporting.
- Health science…for careers in health communication.
- Political science or history…for careers in diplomacy,
politics, government relations, or public affairs reporting
- Anthropology, global studies or a foreign language…for careers
in world affairs reporting, international travel or tourism, or
international communications for a multi-national corporation or
government agency.
