Guest Artists
We are very excited about the guest artist series that we will
be beginning this year. We are planning on bringing to Jordan
well-known choreographers, teachers, performers for short
residencies that will enhance our program. This year's guests will
include:
Ms. Michelle Jarvis, Associate Dean Jordan
College of Fine Arts, Chari of the Department of Dance at Butler
University and Artistic Director of the Butler Ballet. Ms. Jarvis
will be coming to the Academy during the Fall Semester to set a
work on the Jordan Dance Ensemble. This work is to be performed as
part of our Holiday Show in December.
Mr. Eric Skinner, originally from Muncie,
Indiana, Eric Skinner has been working on the West Coast as both a
performer and choreographer for over fifteen years. Eric originally
trained as a gymnast before receiving his B.A. in Dance from Butler
University's Jordan School of Fine Arts in Indianapolis. He has
danced professionally with the Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Oregon,
Pacific Ballet Theatre, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, and was a
founding member of Oregon Ballet Theatre. With these companies he
performed the work of noted classical and contemporary
choreographers including George Balanchine, Dennis Spaight, James
Canfield, Paul Taylor, Bebe Miller, Donald Byrd and Jonathan Wolken
of Pilobolus. Following his departure from OBT, he danced with
contemporary choreographer Gregg Bielemeier and was a founder of
aero/betty aerial dance theatre before joining artistic directors
Jamey Hampton and Ashley Roland in their innovative dance company,
Bodyvox, in which he performs and serves as Artistic Associate.
Eric is additionally Co-Artistic Director of the Skinner|Kirk
Ensemble, which serves as a vehicle for his choreographic
inventions. Commissioned work for IPB: The Little Mermaid,
x-axis. Mr. Skinner will be joiningg us for a residency in the
Spring Semester; he will be teaching classes as well as setting
work on the Jordan Dance Ensemble.
Indianapolis City Ballet
Master Class
The Jordan Academy will be receiving a Master Class from one of
the performers of the Gala for the Indianapolis City Ballet
company. The date and time of the class will be announced soon.
Gala Performance
The Academy is being offered special ticket rates for a group of
seats at the Gala Performance on September 12, exact details of the
tickets will be announced very soon.
