Summer Intensive

June 20 - July 23, 2010

For Dancers Ages 11 - 18

Classes in ballet technique, pointe, classical variations, classical and contemporary repertoire, jazz, modern, and improvisation.  Students may attend all 5 weeks or the first 3 weeks.  Only the students involved in the full 5 weeks will be eligible to participate in the end of the Intensive performance.  The culmination of the workshop is a fully staged public performance.  Professional level instruction is provided by Jordan Academy resident faculty, Butler University guest faculty and nationally renown guest artists.  All five week students will perform in at least two choreographic works created for them by the faculty of the Summer Intensive.  Dormitory housing is available through the facilities of Butler University.

The Jordan Academy Summer Intensive 2010 is fully focused on the development of the young performer. Students will receive in-depth professional instruction in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and improvisation.  The 2010 Intensive immerses the student in their dance training and emphasizes repertory experiences in all of the disciplines.  Small class sizes allow for highly individualized instruction and the availability of daily personal attention from the faculty greatly enhances the student's progress.

The students wil be dancing from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays.  Rehearsal for the concert are 3 nights a week and Saturday afternoons.  It is a very compact and rigorous schedule, but for the young pre-professional dancer, also very rewarding.
