General Policies
Attendance/Make-Up Classes
Regular attendance is expected of all JCAD students,
inconsistent attendance will affect a student's level placement and
advancement. If a student must miss a class due to illness or
family obligations, they can take a maximum of 3 make-up classes
per term for each class in which they are registered. In order to
attend a make-up class the students must pick up a Make-Up slip
from the JCAD office. Make-up classes are taken at the same level
or the level below the missed class. There will be no admittance
into a class without a Make-Up lesson ticket. Make-up classes are
not offered for classes that are missed due to the student's
outside activities.
Arrival And Pick-Up
Students are expected to arrive at least ten minutes prior to
class time. Students arriving ten minutes after the class has begun
will not be permitted to take the class but will be permitted to
observe. Parents are expected to pick up their children immediately
after class ends. Jordan staff cannot be responsible for students
who are left unattended at the Academy. The Academy will close 15
minutes after the last class of the day has ended; no one will be
allowed to remain in the building after that time. If there is an
emergency you must call the Academy office immediately to advise us
of the situation. Otherwise you will be charged $25.00 for every 15
minute period that the student is left after the building has
closed. The student will not be allowed to return
to class until that fee is paid to the Academy office.
New Students
All new students registering in the Middle or Pre-College
Schools must take a placement class to determine their proper
technique levels, (with the exception of those students who are
enrolling in the Introduction level classes). New students should
contact the JCAD Office to schedule their placement classes. The
fee for the Placement class will be the same fee charged for a
single class. When the student registers for the term, this fee
will credited toward the tuition costs.
Dress Code
The required Attire for each School and Discipline is outlined
in the Schedule of Classes and in the Handbook. Any student not
properly dressed for any class will be given a copy of the dress
code and asked to secure the proper attire before the next class.
In the Lower School, the notice will be given to the
Parent/Guardian. The student will receive two
warnings about proper attire for class, after that, the teacher
will not allow the student to participate in the
class. No make-up classes will be offered for these missed classes.
Help may be available for students needing financial assistance to
meet these requirements, please contact the office.
Class Size
The maximum number of students per class will vary according to
the level and discipline. If all sections of your level are full,
please ask the staff to place your name on a waiting list.
Parent Viewing Policy
Parents/guardians, etc. are encouraged to view classes through
the observation windows of each studio. In all cases, the observers
are expected to be quiet and to not disrupt the class in any way.
At the end of each term, special viewing days will
be set by the Academy. At this time, we invite everyone to come
into the studio to observe. Cameras and Video Cameras will be
permitted during this time. However, under no circumstances will
flash photography be permitted.
