Dean's Message
For over a century, the Jordan College of Fine Arts has educated talented and aspiring young artists for careers in the arts. Our graduates are working on Broadway and in Hollywood, playing in orchestras, performing with dance companies, teaching in schools and universities, and leading arts organizations.
Jordan College students receive a first-rate arts education. They also benefit from the rich array of opportunities offered by Butler University, one of the nation's leading universities. Butler is located in the heart of culturally vibrant Indianapolis, home of many professional arts, media and communication organizations. When students are accepted into the Jordan College, they join an energetic group of faculty and students, a community that is enriched by performers, ensembles, and scholars from across the city, the country and from around the world.
The Jordan College is in the midst of a more than forty-million-dollar facilities expansion that will provide it with state-of-the-art instructional, performance and public spaces. Not only is the College transforming its physical plant, it is actively recreating its programs for the New Century.
But a great arts college must have more than superior facilities and location. It must support its members as they strive to reach the very highest artistic and educational goals. Its faculty must be comprised of nationally and internationally recognized individuals who are working on the cutting edge. Its students must willingly commit their considerable talents and energies to the achievement of excellence. The Jordan College has all this and is devoted to assisting each student with making his or her place in the nation's cultural future.
We hope you will enjoy learning more about our College by using this website. On behalf of the Jordan College, let me extend a warm welcome to you.
Sincerely yours,
Peter Alexander, dean
