Butler Owned PCs, Macs & Peripherals

To purchase NEW (outside of Replacement Cycle) technology with University funds you must use Purchasing's Computer Requisition form. The form is located on BUfiles > General > Forms > Purchasing Forms > Computer Requsition.xls. Complete the form, attach a print-out of the web page displaying the description of the technology, and send it to Purchasing. Purchasing will send this information to IT for approval. Once the technology arrives in Purchasing, IT is notified and the requestor will be contacted for pickup or delivery.

What is the Hub & Software Fee? ~ Show Information

The Hub and Software Fee is added to the cost of all computers and devices running a full OS. The money collected is used for several things:

  • Funds the campus wide software license for faculty, staff, and lab computers (including Microsoft, antivirus, and other software agreements)
  • Helps fund the repair of computers
  • Helps fund network maintenance and growth as more devices are added
  • Helps maintain and support computer lab and classroom computers

What is the Butler IT warranty? ~ Show Information

The Butler IT warranty provides two-year coverage for iPad and Nexus tablets and four-year coverage for Mac desktops or laptops. The warranty costs $100 and covers repairs for hardware failure and accidental damage (maximum two incidents). This year, IT will cover the cost of the warranty for iPad and Nexus tablet purchases (excludes Surface Pro 3) on behalf of other departments.

When purchasing a new Mac desktop or laptop, please add the $100 IT warranty to your computer requisition.
