Spyware Removal
Spyware is software that is installed on a computer without your knowledge and collects personal information without your permission. You increase your risk of having spyware if you download music from file-sharing programs, install or play free games from sites you don't trust, or install other software from an unknown source. Spyware can do the following:
- Create popups, even when you don't have a browser window open
- Steal you passwords & credit card numbers
- Track every web site you visit
- Cause your computer to run slower by using up system resources
Butler provided Symantec Endpoint Protection includes spyware protection that can aid with the quarantine and removal of some spyware from your system.
To fully remove spyware from your system you can download additional software. Below are two programs the Help Desk uses on a regular basis.
Once you install the software, you will need to keep it up to date. Similar to antivirus software, they use definition files to find malicious items, so if you don't have the newest update, the scan won't find the newer spyware that might be running on your computer.
